Brentford RTC News
This project started back in September of 2008 but it has taken a year to source 30 Pay and Go devices. Thanks to support from Apple and O2 we finally launched the project on the 25th November 2009. At the launch, much of the time was spent discussing the e-safety of the participants and the need for parents and teachers to work together to ensure safe and appropriate use of the devices in the trial.
Each month the girls will be asked to hand in a log detailing how they have used the devices and what apps they have downloaded onto their devices. To encourage them to do so, the most detailed log each month with win an iTunes voucher to enable the participant to buy apps or music for their device.

Today we targeted year 7 and were amazed at the wide range of apps already being used. Top apps include 'Just in Time Chinese' which helps one student with her language studies.
Today also saw the BBC reporting on our project, well done to all who appeared on camera!

I haven't bought any apps yet, but I downloaded a few free ones. I downloaded two bible apps, because I have had to use my bible in RE so it's easier to use on the iPhone then bringing in a bible. In music I have used it for youtube.com when we have to make up a tune on the piano, I have used YouTube to type in some ideas and use them. In various lessons I have used the internet safari a lot to look up for things Idont understand. In maths, I have been useing the calculater every lesson. I have my own homework journal on it. I downloaded an app called 'myhomework' and I write all my homework in to it. I have taken a picture once in maths when the teacher wrote a lot of useful maths information that we had to copy in to our books so i took a picture of it instead and imported it on to my laptop at home. Ouside of school, Ihave been useing it to listen to my music, and safari. I have downloaded some educational games, like Italian and French and Science ones. They're all quizes and have useful information on there. I have been using it for my emails, my hotmail one and the school one. I hope to buy some educational apps soon which could be helpful to use. But so far i'm really enjoying having the iPhone in class and I think its quite helpful.
